Actors Guild of Nigeria Congress Reaffirms Unity, Legitimacy of Rollas-Led Leadership — Dismisses Forged Letter and Fake Appointments

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has reaffirmed that there is no crisis within its fold, dismissing recent claims of a leadership change as the handiwork of mischief-makers bent on discrediting the Guild’s leadership and destabilizing its ongoing transition process.

This was contained in a communiqué issued after the Emergency Joint National Congress of the Guild held in recently, where delegates from across the federation gathered to review the state of affairs and reaffirm commitment to the constitutionally recognized leadership under Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON.

The Congress stated categorically that no meeting was convened anywhere in Nigeria to remove or replace the Board of Trustees (BoT) or the National Executive Council (NEC), stressing that both bodies remain intact, functional, and legally recognized, “The tenure of Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas MON remains valid and subsisting. He continues to serve as the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria in line with the provisions of our constitution,” the communiqué affirmed.

The Guild described the unsigned release circulating on a forged AGN letterhead, purporting to announce new BoT members and executives, as “criminal, baseless, and malicious.” Congress resolved to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that all individuals behind the act face prosecution under Nigerian law.

Chairman of Chairmen, Patience Ezekiel, speaking after the meeting, dismissed insinuations that the Guild’s state chairmen participated in any meeting to form a new BoT or appoint new executives. “No chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria attended any meeting to deliberate on the formation of a new Board of Trustees or the appointment of any so-called new National Executive Council,” Ezekiel stated firmly. “All state chairmen remain loyal to the constitutionally recognized leadership under Dr. Rollas and are focused on preparations for the forthcoming national election.”

Similarly, the Mayor of Abuja Chapter, in her remarks, debunked reports that such a meeting was held in the capital city, emphasizing that the National Secretariat in Abuja remains calm and fully operational. “I operate daily from the National Secretariat, and there has been no such meeting or gathering of any sort in Abuja. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the Secretariat remains under the legitimate leadership of our elected officers,” she clarified.

Reinforcing the Guild’s position, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Emmanuel Ogugua, described the circulating document as “a desperate forgery by impostors,” adding that the Board remains united and firmly behind the elected national leadership. “The Board of Trustees of the Actors Guild of Nigeria is intact and fully aligned with the National Executive Council. The election timetable released by the leadership stands, and preparations are progressing in accordance with the AGN Constitution,” Chief Ogugua stated.

The Congress reiterated that the Actors Guild of Nigeria is a corporate legal entity, duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and governed by a binding constitution. It warned that acts of impersonation, forgery, or sabotage would attract decisive legal action. “The Guild will not tolerate any attempt to destabilize its structures or mislead the public. The full weight of the law will be brought to bear on all individuals or groups engaging in acts that threaten the integrity of this institution,” the communiqué declared.

In conclusion, the Congress expressed profound appreciation to all members, patrons, and the public for their continued support and confidence in the Guild’s leadership and reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, credible, and peaceful transition process.

“The Guild is united, our leadership is stable, and our focus remains the growth and dignity of the Nigerian actor,” the statement concluded.
